Day Two

This morning we woke up.... at 5am, thanks much to the constant sounds of all of the roosters and dogs. A beautiful sunny day, before we go anywhere Pinky (my wife) and I go to her parents property just up the road.
This is the view from there back yard
this is the road outside the gate, look at that view
After seeing the amazing views we quickly pop into what looks like a lane way but is actually just a side street to visit the parents ivesment appartments and also the brothers (Chad) new bar he built but we will be going there later so I'll show the pics then.

So now we head off to Cebu City to do some shopping.

On the way I got to experience the Philippine traffic in its fullest. People here just toot their horn to let the other drivers know 'I am here, dont change lanes' or 'move out the way cause im faster then you' or even 'please dont just stop in the middle of the road for no good reason'. I have seen cars using two lanes at once or two lanes become five lanes without warning, if you want to start giving way to other drivers, you will simply be left in traffic and never move again. about half the traffic is motorbike, but you dont need a helmet if you dont want, and you can bring your whole family if you want... I saw four people on one bike, mom, dad, child, and grandma!
just some guys going in to the city
well at least the kid isnt the one driving
local cop, nice M16
how do you get to work?

thats the conductor, they arent standing still,
this is while moving in traffic
The most common form of public transport is of course the Jeepney, the jeepney is a bus of a sort, originally made from the jeeps left over from WWII, but now they use minivans and all sorts. They are all very brightly coloured and usually have some theme to them like sposorship except they dont get permission, hahah. If you want to catch one you just wave your arms around and they seem to stop, there is a conductor as you can see in the below image, he just hangs around and collects the money. If they get too full, which they usually do, I have seen people sitting on the roof too.

I am going show more pics of the colourfull buses from time to time

At the Terrace shopping mall, Pinky (my wife) is going to a day spa with her cousin Sheila while Richard and I go into the shops. We qickly had some yum cha for an early lunch and off we went our separate ways.

Its a really nice mall, beautiful gardens, clean, safe, metal detecors at the entrance next to the armed gurard, what more could you ask for.
While here I found that I dont fit into most clothes as they are mostly asian sizes, even though I wear a 36, no way was I ever going to fit into a 36 here, oh well.

After the shopping we go home, have something to eat, and head out. First we go to a casino which is more like the RSL clubs they have in Syndey, Richard loses some of Sheila's money on the pokies and off we go to IT Park which is where the night life is. Lots of little cafe/bars for the young people to hang out at. We hit a club called the Loft, 2 story night club, first level heavy dance music, second level, R&B, yeah baby, we are at home. The DJ rocks, plays a good mix of new and classic hiphop. We got the feeling we were a little early as only 2 girls were on the dance floor for the next hour. There was a collection of lounges around and they all had resevered signs on them, turns out if you wanted to sit there you had to pay.
After an hour or so the people started to pour in, it turned into a Korean club, about 150 Korean's just turned up out of know where. Once the girls were done with there 5 Mojito's we went home.
Because the girls were quite drunk, (richard too actually) we stopped at a fastfood joint called Jolly Bee, kinda like Maccas.

I forgot to mention, anytime we go anywhere, go in the car, and this family has there own driver so he drives us anywhere we want. If we go to a Mall, he waits in outside for us, when we went to the club, he just waited on some grass near the car, for four hours? but I have to give him props, he is great, thoughtfull, polite, safe and so patient.
