Day Thirteen

We are on our way to the island of Bohol.
We got up pretty early today because our ferry was an early one. While checking in at the harbour I was told I cant take my camera bag with me, it must be checked in with the rest of the luggage, we argued, they told us to talk to security, they said no. Damn it, I am starting to get visions of my camera bag being thrown overboard or crushed underneath huge metal things from the boat, but we couldn't argue and I had to watch the toss my bag across the deck.
So we set off across the sea on our way to the island of Bohol, it should be a good trip as Bohol has a lot to offer according to the websites.
We arrive at the harbour in Bohol after a long but uneventful ride, only 2 hours so it wasn't that bad except for the fact that the boat was really nothing more then a large metal capsule with a bunch of seats nailed to the floor.

As we step off the ferry, it is hot and humid and horrible again, at least the boat had aircon. We have booked our accommodation at the Metro Hotel in the centre of town, they have a car/van waiting for us at the dock and off we go.
It looks like this is a big fishing area, the river is filled with fishing boats and nets, and there is a lot of buildings along the bank for fishing families.
Bohol turns out is not such a great city, in fact is really a dump, very dirty, congested and run down, I was expecting more.
The hotel is nice, we find out they have a sister hotel called the Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa, we look online and we aren't sure of the security, the rooms look like grass huts in some kind of forest so we decide to stay at the Metro.
Our room is nice, nothing fancy but the view is terrible, you don't have one, no windows, hahahah.
Later we go down to the restaurant for dinner, it looks very nice, the staff are awesome, the decor is beautiful, Chinese theme and we are the only ones there so we feel like we have special treatment. As we start reading the menu we are getting hungry, it all sounds great so we order a bunch of stuff and wait. The food starts to arrive, soup, rice, bbq meat selection, sounds good huh, well it was crap. The birds nest soup had no taste at all, we added a ton of salt so we could taste something, the fried rice was blah, the meat platter, had 3 pieces of meat on it, and we thought we could share hahahaha. It was a disaster, but it didn't cost much so we went back to our rooms and called it a night. Tomorrow the adventure begins.
